The Knowledge Base consists of metadata in the form of Non-hierarchical data:
• Attribute Sets
• Reference Forms
And metadata in a hierarchy of Assets Types, visible in the Asset Type Explorer, where you can see how Asset Types relate to each other e.g. “Swing” is a sub-Asset of “Play Equipment”, which is a sub-Asset of “Parks Infrastructure”. Despite being hierarchically related, Asset Types data and operations are usually dissimilar. Each Asset Type:
• Defines Asset State Attributes
• Defines Asset User Fields (labels and structure)
• Can set Valuation Attributes
• Can set Security Permissions
• Can hold Standard Templates for:
• Standard Actions
• Standard Defects
• Standard Inspections
• Standard Risk Events
Edit permission on the Knowledge Base is required before metadata changes can be made.
