Ensure that the following requirements are met and maintained:
•Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise, in support with Microsoft and with security patches applied
• Preferably an Ethernet network connection or, in the case of wireless, a sufficient share of the available bandwidth to maintain connections to the web server
•Internet Explorer 11, with Microsoft Updates applied
• Microsoft Silverlight 5 Runtime, pre-installed on all workstations that will use Conquest III, configured to allow Application Storage
• Internet Access to ‘https://*.conquest-solutions.com.au’
• For ‘Conquest.Live’ Internet Access to ‘https://*.Conquest.Live’
• A workstation based on a multi-core CPU, minimum 4 Gigabytes of RAM. More if it’s heavily loaded
• 100 Megabytes of disk space
• A monitor with resolution of about 1280 X 1068. HD monitors are suitable for Conquest III
• Microsoft Office version 2010 or later installed to be able to open Office documents attached to Conquest Assets, Actions etc.
• Internet Explorer Web Browser settings are:
• In the Security Tab:
• Make the Conquest III URL a Local Intranet site
• Make ‘https://*.conquest-solutions.com.au’ a Trusted Site
• For ‘Conquest.Live’ make ‘https://*.Conquest.Live’ a Trusted Site
• Select the Trusted Sites zone
• Use the ‘Custom Level’ button then scroll down the list to ‘Display Mixed Content’ and enable it (middle of list)
• Scroll down to ‘User Authentication/Logon’ section (end of list) and select ‘Automatic Logon with Current Username and Password’ so that users do not need to reenter their Windows Username and Password for ongoing Conquest III sessions
• In the Privacy Tab adjust the slider to ‘Medium’ to allow Popups
• In the Advanced Tab, Security section, ensure that the ‘Enable Integrated Windows Authentication’ option is ticked (this is the default) for Kerberos authentication to work
•Compatibility Mode. Add “YourDomain.FQDN” to the Compatibility Sites. Do not tick the checkbox for ‘Display intranet sites in Compatibility View’
• To physically print a Report or Work Order or requires the ‘Adobe PDF Reader’ plugin in Internet Explorer
• In order to print PDFs as part of a Work Order, it is necessary to disable the Header and Footer in the browser’s print settings. Note: If you change the header and footer settings in your web browser, while the PDF tab is already open, the printout will be blank, so make the changes before issuing any Work Orders
• If Microsoft Outlook is to be used for e-mails from Conquest III then the ‘Conquest Desktop Extender’ MSI file must be downloaded from the Conquest Web Site and installed on the Asset Management PCs that need to use Outlook e-mail. For details see Set Up the Conquest Desktop Extender.
Things to be aware of:
• Multiple Conquest III sessions with the same URL cannot be run in one browser session. If this is attempted, the new session will force the older session to log out
• The ratio of Conquest Asset Management activity to network bandwidth of the client workstation, is important. In a busy system, changes are constantly being “pushed out” to logged in Conquest III sessions. There are limits as to how long the web server can wait for an acknowledgment before concluding that a workstation has lost its connection, in which case tuning or uprating the network may be necessary
• Conquest III caches images and icons in the browser cache to maximize performance, so avoid clearing the browser cache
• Even though Conquest III is a multi-tiered application, it is not inherently slow. However, it can be slowed down by any of the tiered, hardware components including the network devices, should they be under-configured for their workload
• Occasionally, Microsoft Updates to Internet Explorer can revert some browser settings to default values
• Microsoft Silverlight is not compatible with Web Browsers that do not support the ‘Netscape Plugin Application Programming Interface’ (NPAPI)
• Other Web Browsers such as Firefox have similar settings to IE, available in their Help documentation or by Internet Search, which will have to be set to achieve Trusted Authentication. Chrome stopped supporting the Silverlight plugin in 2015
• If Silverlight 5 is not pre-installed, when Conquest III runs in the web browser it will display a dialog asking if it is alright to download and install Microsoft Silverlight 5. Provided that the User can elevate to be the Local Administrator, Silverlight will install and, after refreshing the browser, Conquest III will run
• After a Conquest III installation by the IT department, for every PC on the network that uses Conquest III, there will be a “first use” delay, while the Conquest III client side content needed for it to run, downloads from the Web Server to PC Browser. A progress “spinner” with percentage complete is displayed in the middle of the Conquest III Window. Subsequent sessions per PC, will not experience this delay. This behavior also applies to first time use of Conquest Viewer and Conquest Requests
• If the Conquest III desktop application is to be used in the field on a tablet or notebook with a Multi-touch screen, a precision stylus is the only practical way to work with the desktop “widgets” of the explorers and window dividers
