User Defined Hierarchies

The Hierarchy Editor allows the creation of user defined hierarchies. Select the Hierarchy Editor option from the View Menu to configure a new Hierarchy.

Select the Add Hierarchy button to create a new entry at the top level. To create an entry on the next level, select the parent entry and then pick the Add Item button.

The above screenshot shows an example of two hierarchies, ‘Asset Priority’ and ‘One’.

The User Field Label is a method for recording an user identification for each of your hierarchy entries that might correspond to another system. The Label is set at the top level and this label is applied to all the children entries.

Once configured, it has to be defined in Tools>>Options. These hierarchies apply across all Assets. To utilise the Standard Defect’s response time functionality, one of these hierarchies needs to be defined as the option System User Hierarchy 1.

In the example below, the hierarchy ‘Asset Priority’ is defined as System user Hierarchy . This hierarchy will now appear on all assets in the System User Fields section of the Asset form. Here the user can assign the appropriate level of the hierarchy to the asset. In the example below, the asset has been assigned the Medium Asset Priority level. .
