Splitting Assets

Read the general rules on building CSV files for Bulk Data in; Setting up a CSV File.

Split Asset needs the Asset to have:

      A Valuation Asset Type

      A Dimension to Value By

      An Expiry Date

Your import file requires these columns in this order.

AssetID, AssetDescription, NewAssetDescription, NewAssetMeasurement, TransactionDate

NewAssetDescription and NewAssetMeasurement are for the newly created Asset.  The Measurement of the original Asset will be reduced by the amount being applied to the new Asset.

TransactionDate is the date at which this transaction occurs.  This is a normal financial transaction that will proportion the Value, Accumulated Capital Works and the Accumulated Depreciation between the two Assets.  Like any other financial transaction it cannot occur prior to the Last Transaction Date of the Asset being split.  The Last Transaction Date of the two Assets will be set to the TransactionDate.

Note: You cannot Split an Asset more than once in the same file.
